About Perk to Nature Association

Our Vision

Our Vision is to establish, manage and operate a research institute specialized in fish breeding of extinct species for the purpose of returning them to nature

Assignment

According to the biennial report on the of fisheries condition in the world published by the Food and Agriculture Organization FAO of the United Nations ( 2019 ), the fishing conditions in the Mediterranean & the Black Sea are the worst in the world.

About two thirds of the commercial fish populations these days are in a state of over exploitation, a fact that impairs the ability of local fish to regenerate and survive. This means that some of the
fish populations designated for fishing purposes are shrinking and are in serious danger of extinction. Unfortunately, the situation of freshwater fish is not better

According to the 2019 International Union for the Conservation of Nature
( about 100 fish species in the Mediterranean have dropped by 50 over the last 40 years, a fact that puts them in serious danger of extinction IUCN’s report clearly states that nature has passed the point of self rehabilitation and urgently needs the help of man in order to rehabilitate it

Perk to Nature Association was established with the aim of helping nature recover

Project Segmentation

The research institute facility will be founded on a land with two separated zero discharge systems. One with fresh water and the other with seawater. The institute will include Research Laboratories, Reproduction Institute, Quarantine Pools, a hatchery and fingerlings growing Area. Until the fish return to nature, all areas will be isolated from each other in order to assure complete biosecurity of the facility.

The enriched water will also be used for greenhouse crops and hydroponic growing system. The institute area will store the broodstock as well as a visitor center.

In order to sustain economic independence, the institute will carry out revenue-generating activities for the benefit of the marine research which will be based on the production & sale of fingerlings from known protocols of fish species whose breeding method are known.

The fish farms and visitor center revenue will also be part of the research budget, conducting group tours, lectures and workshops on sustainable marine conservation practices.

Perk to Nature Association considers the activities of the project as important educational in integrating youth into the practical practices of marine  conservation, ranging from normative socio economic segments to at risk youth, youth with special needs, high school drop outs seeking to
learn a workforce trade, etc.

Perk to Nature Association operates regardless of gender, race, religion or gender in all sectors, Jews, Arab Christians, Muslim Circassians, Bedouin and Druze.

Additional values of the Perk to Nature project includes:

Professional Value – The youth village trainees will acquire a profession in the field of aquaculture. A pedagogical-academic farm will operate an advanced breeding laboratory as part of the aquaculture educational training. The Youth Village students will be able to study and specialize in biology and aquaculture studies. Operation of a research institute and laboratory for the production of intensive farm operation / storage for parent groups (Broodstock). Running a training facility for minnows that includes a closed system of water treatment (Zero Discharge). Operating a packing facility for exporting live minnows (Fingerlings). Operating a fish trade export system

Global Value – The village trainees will develop skills and relationships with international institutions and organizations.

Therapeutic Value – The perception of Nature Therapy refers to working with animals and understanding young people that there is a process, a defined structured empowerment process that can be copied to daily life since animal care has many therapeutic properties.

Economic Value – The income from the research institute’s activities will be used to cover the research costs Pedagogical Value – Study and operation of a training facility for minnows. Study and  mplementation of various fish  reproduction protocols. Participation in breeding research for additional fish species. Intensive fish farm learning of extraction & sorting operation, operation of equipment, Study of wholesale and retail in the fish trade.

Sustainable Value – The work at the research institute carries a global mission and is designed to save the dwindling fish population. It bears, first and foremost, a sustainable value for the students and will be followed by the pedagogical and professional aspects.

Financial Value – As part of the work in the laboratory of the research institute, the trainees will learn how to become fish breeders, will participate in the sale processes of various fish the minnows that will be produced from the learning process. Some will be sold to aquaculture industry and some to the international market for the purpose of returning to nature and both will serve as income sources based on a solid business plan.
